What do you do for work?
I’m IT Director Web, for Wharton Research Data Services at The Wharton School, where we get to make jQuery play with petabytes of data and shred NetApps. Good times! I used to do side work like any good younger geek, but now I’m old and crusty.
What do you do for play?
Run events around Philly, plot with @scarylawyer to take over the Universe (or at least this sector of it), hack on TiVo, bike around town, curse SEPTA & the Eagles, love the Phils & Flyers (lockout: BOO!), herd cats around my house, still actually play WoW, hang on East P’unk, and generally create chaos around Philadelphia.
What is your superpower?
I can turn red traffic lights green, just by staring at them, for long enough… sometimes create change for a $20, and make scotch disappear before your very eyes.
What appeals to you about BarCamp? Ever been to one before?
Great people, great community energy, great topics, great times.
What would you love to see at BarCamp this year?
My employment at Wharton and sanity in place after it is complete. Okay, let’s just say “not lose any sanity I have left.”
If you were to lead a session, what would it be about?
I am going to lead a session… called “WHO’S DOING THIS HORSESHIT TO MY INTERNET.” We’ll talk about some obvious horseshit like net neutrality, GTLDs, domain seizure, and some not so obvious horseshit trying to be pulled behind the scenes. And scotch.
